WONDERFUL THANKS GIVING Life meeting!

WONDERFUL THANKS GIVING Life meeting!
First of before i started this post and sharing....
Theres SOOOOO MUCH THANKS GIVING just from the happenings today!

FIRSTLY, today before i left my hse found out my IAD project 3 was short listed for this International Interior Design Competition! I wassss so SURPRISE!!! bcoz i took a peep at one of the lecturer marking during my presentation and it wasnt too good...BUT i guess BY GOD's AWESOME graceeee im given this opportunity! Well its really so true that whatever u commit to GOD! He will bless you in some way or another!

SECONDLY, i was very concern at first when last night i found out my class was shifted to 6pm! AND i needed to share todays message at LM at that time! But later on... its really a blessing from GOD bcoz if not for that sudden change... i wont have been given the time to complete my work in time for the consultation andddd manage to consult and make it time for LM!! PRAISE THE LORD again!

THIRDLY, this was mainly from the other crusaders... i was SOOO ENCOURAGED by all their sharing today! Especially one i heard praying for the rain to stop when the sky didnt seem to good! BUT AGAIN GOD BLESS US with a nice cool weather! AND WOW the MOON LIT SO BRIGHTLY! Check out the photos!

Anyways below is my sharing outlineee! Its always an honour to share a message from GOD! =)

Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

1) Why we Give Thanks

Illustration:

Dr. Ironside used to tell of an experience he once had at a restaurant. He ordered his meal, and just as he was about to eat, a man walked up to his table and said, "Do you mind if I sit down with you?" Dr. Ironside said that it was quite all right, so the man sat down. As was his custom, Dr. Ironside bowed his head and said a silent word of thanksgiving to the Lord before he ate. When he lifted up his head, the man said to him, "Do you have a headache?"

Ironside said, "No, I don't."

The man said, "Well, is there anything wrong with your food?"

Ironside said, "No, why?"

"Well," the man said, "I saw you sitting there with your head down, and I thought you must be sick, or there was something wrong with your food."

Ironside replied, "No, I was simply returning thanks to God as I always do before I eat."

The man said, "Oh, you're one of those, are you? Well, I never give thanks. I earn my money by the sweat of my brow, and I don't have to give thanks to anybody when I eat. I just start right in!"

Dr. Ironside said, "Yes, you're just like my dog. That's what he does, too!"

That little story suggests that when people will not give thanks to God, they are acting like irrational animals.no matter how we may feel or what our attitude toward God may be, we are bound, as creatures dependent upon His love and grace, at least to give thanks to Him as our Creator.

Psalm 96:8 says, "Ascribe to the LORD the glory due his name." God is always worthy of our thanksgiving, not just when we feel like giving it. We should do it for His name's sake.

2) Praising God and Giving Thanks all the time!

*Personal testimony* of choosing to praise God even at hard times...

(God touch my heart listening to this song last Sunday in church. And he revealed to me that YOU MUST SHARE THIS SONG to the crusaders as part of the message.)

Testimony behind song...

Te desert song, which was written by Jill McCloghry, whose firstborn child died because he came out premature, yet Jill is assured that God is still God even in the desert, in the fire, or even in times of favor...

"I will bring praise, I will bring praise, NO WEAPON FORMED AGAINST ME SHALL REMAIN. I will rejoice, I will declare, GOD IS MY VICTORY AND HE IS HERE."

Jill Mccloghry & Brooke Fraser Dessert Song Lyrics

This is my prayer in the desert
When all that's within me feels dry

This is my prayer in my hunger and need

My God is the God who provides

This is my prayer in the fire
In weakness or trial or pain
There is a faith proved of more worth than gold
So refine me Lord through the flame

Chorus:

I will bring praise, I will bring praise
No weapon formed against me shall remain
I will rejoice, I will declare
God is my victory and He is here

This is my prayer in the battle
When triumph is still on its way
I am a conqueror and co-heir with Christ
So firm on His promise I'll stand

BRIDGE
All of my life
In every season
You are still God
I have a reason to sing
I have a reason to worship

This is my prayer in the harvest
When favour and providence flow
I know I'm filled to be emptied again
The seed I've received I will sow.

I really hope that all of us will remember this song when we feel spiritually dry...
Remember God will DELIVER US and PROVIDES and GIVES US THE VICTORY FOR HE IS OUR GOD NO MATER WHAT SEASONS WE ARE IN!

{Play Desert Song Track 7 of my playlist}

Will you be able to understand that God is still God and He remains despite what happens to us? Will you be able to bring Him a gift of thanks and praise, no matter what's happening?

Brokenness: The Heart God Revives...What Is Brokenness?

Brokenness: The Heart God Revives...What Is Brokenness?

Today during crusade SM meeting, Irene shared with us a very insightful message from an excerpt from a book and a video sermon base on brokenness by Nancy Leigh Demoss... At first glace read the heading... brokenness is where God can sent revival? I had some questions if thats true... i believed that it's not necessary for revival to come only from a broken heart right?

Until it was explained more.... in her context of "True Brokenness"... many of us has the misconception of brokenness as being sad, gloomy and like the world is falling on you and other times where we have this sense of false humility, where we just put ourselves down, than there are others who view it has shedding of tears, having a deeply emotional experience, and many who equate it with being deeply hurt by tragic circumstances.

"TRUE BROKENNESS"

Brokennessis not a feeling or an emotion. Rather, it requires a choice, an act of the will... Its is the shattering of my self-will- the absolute surrender of my will to the will of God.

For thus says the High and Lofty One Who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy:
“ I dwell in the high and holy place,With him who has a contrite and humble spirit, To revive the spirit of the humble,And to revive the heart of the contrite ones. " Isaiah 57:15

Dictionary meaning...
Contrite- caused by or showing sincere remorse, brokenness, crushed into small particles.

"The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise." Psalms 51:17

Further elaboration from book..."True Brokenness" is the breaking of my self will, so that life and spirit if the Lord Jesus may be released through me. It is the Stripping of self-reliance and independence from God, it is the softening of the soil of my heart.

I dunno if this links.. but while reading the excerpt of the book... it reminded me of the song, Hosanna by Hillsong "...break my heart for what break yours..."

Anyway you may not totally grasped what i wrote here... so if you want, do read up more on the book for a better explanation...

IMPORTANT EXCERPT from her book BELOW! (PLEASE READ ALL from 1 - 35 SLOWLY!)
Ok heres the KEY part i believed ALL OF US SHOULD READ SLOWLY line by line! Its LONG but its WORTH IT!!! And i mean it!
When we each took turns to read each line.... I WAS IMPACTED so much by it! Sometimes i really feel that pride has creeped into my life and i really want to lead that life of true humility... ok the word brokenness to me is still quite questionable...but.... i agree with her context of "true brokenness "to her.

Attitudes Towards Others

1.. Proud people focus on the failures of others and can readily point out those faults.
Broken people are more conscious of their own spiritual need than of anyone else's.

2.Proud people have a critical, fault finding spirit. They look at everyone else's faults with a microscope but view their own with a telescope.
Broken people are compassionate- they have the kind of love that overlooks a multitude of sins; they can forgive much because they know how much they have been forgiven.

3. Proud people are especially prone to criticize those in positions of authority- their pastor, their boss, their husband, their parents- and they talk to others about the faults they see.
Broken people reverence, encourage, and lift up those that God has placed in positions of authority, and they talk to God intercession, rather than gossiping about the faults they see in others.

4. Proud people are self-righteous; they think highly of themselves and look down on others.
Broken people think the best of others; they esteem others as better than themselves.

5.Proud people have an independent,self-sufficient spirit.
Broken people have a dependent spirit; they recognized their need for God and for others.

Attitudes About Rights

6. Proud people have to prove that they are right- they have to get the last word.
Broken people are willing to yield the right to be right.

7. Proud people claim rights and have a demanding spirit.
Broken people yield their rights and heave a meek spirit.

8. Proud people are self-protective of their time, their rights, and their reputation.
Broken people are self-denying and self sacrificing.

Attitudes about Service and Ministry

9. Proud people desire to be served- they want life to revolve around them and their own needs.
Broken people are motivated to serve others and to be sure others' needs are met before their own.

10. Proud people desire to be known as a success.
Broken people are motivated to be faithful and to make others successful.

11. Proud people have a feeling- conscious or subconscious - that "this ministry (or this organization) is privileged to have me and my gifts". They focus on what they can do for God.
Broken people have a heart attitude that says, "I don't deserve to have any part in this ministry". they know that they have nothing to offer God except the life of Jesus flowing through their broken lives.

Attitudes about Recognition

12.Proud people crave self-advancement.
Broken people desire to promote others

13.Proud people have a drive to be recognized and appreciated for their efforts.
Broken people have a sense of their own unworthiness; they are thrilled God would use them at all.

14. Proud people get wounded when others are promoted and they are overlooked.
Broken people are eager for others to get credit, and they rejoice when others are lifted up.

15.Proud people are elated by praise and deflated by criticism.
Broken people know that any praise of their accomplishments belongs to the Lord and that criticism can help them grow into spiritual maturity
.
Attitudes About Themselves
16.Proud people feel confident in how much they know.
Broken people are humbled by how very much they have to learn.
17.Proud people are self-conscious; they worry about what others think of them.
Broken people are not preoccupied with what others think of them.
18.Proud people are concerned about appearing respectable; they are driven to protect their image and reputation.
Broken people are concerned with being real; they care less about what others think than about what God knows-they are willing to die to their own reputation.

19. Proud people can't bear to fail or for anyone to think they are less than perfect. This can drive them to extremes-workaholic tendencies, perfectionism, the tendency to drive others or to place unrealistic expectations on themselves or others.
Broken people can recognize and live within God-given limitations
.
Attitudes About Relationships
20. Proud people keep others at arm's length.
Broken people are willing to take the risks of getting close to others and loving intimately.

21.Proud people are quick to blame others.
Broken people accept personal responsibility and can acknowledge where they were wrong in a situation.

22. Proud people wait for others to come and ask forgiveness when there is a misunderstanding or a breach in a relationship.
Broken people take the initiative to be reconciled, no matter how wrong the other party may have been.

23. Proud people are unapproachable or defensive when corrected.
Broken people receive correction with a humble, open spirit.

24.Proud people find it difficult to discuss their spiritual needs with others.
Broken people are willing to be open and transparent with others as God directs.

25.Proud people try to control the people and circumstances around them- they are prone to manipulate.
Broken people trust in God- they rest in Him and are able to wait for Him to act on their behalf.

26.Proud people become bitter and resentful when they are wronged; they have emotional temper tantrums; they hold others hostage and are easily offended; they carry grudges and keep a record of others' wrongs.
Broken people give thanks in all things; they are quick to forgive those who wrong them.

Attitudes About Sins
27. Proud people want to be sure that no one finds out when they have sinned; their instinct is to cover up.
Broken people aren't overly concerned with who knows or who finds out about their sin- they are willing to be exposed because they have nothing to lose.

28. Proud people have a hard time saying, "I was wrong; will you please forgive me?"
Broken people are quick to admit their failure and to seek forgiveness when necessary.

29. Proud people tend to deal in generalities when confessing their sin to God (Dear Lord, please forgive me for all my sins...") or expressing spiritual need to others ("I need to be a better Christian...")
Broken people are able to acknowledge specifics when confessing their sin; "Lord, I agree with You that I love myself more than I love my mate;I confess that I am addicted to television;I'm a glutton; I have a critical spirit; I am an angry mother...."

30. Proud people are concerned about the consequences of their sin. They are disturbed over the problems caused by their sin-fro example the financial bondage created by their overspending,or the problems in their marriage that have resulted from selfishness and immoral choices.
Broken people are grieved over the cause, the root of their sin. They are more concerned about how their sin has grieved and dishonoured God than about the problems it has created in their lives.

31. Proud people are remorseful over their sin- sorry that they got caught or found out.
Broken people are truly repentant over their sin, and the evidence of their repentance is that they forsake the sin.

Attitudes about their walk with God

32. Proud people are blind to the true condition of their hearts.
Broken people walk in the light and acknowledge the truth about their lives.

33. Proud people compare themselves with others and feel worthy of respect.
Broken people compare themselves with the holiness of God and feel a desperate need for His mercy.

34. Proud people don't think they need to repent of anything.
Broken people realize that they need to maintain a continual heart attitude of repentance.

35. Proud people don't think they need revival, but they are sure everyone else does.(In fact , right now, they are making a mental list of the people they think need to read this book!)
"I was laughing at this line because i felt that way! oppps!"

Broken people continually sense their need for a fresh encounter with God and for a fresh filling of His Holy Spirit.

-Nancy Leigh DeMoss (excerpt of book Brokenness: The Heart God Revives)
After reading all this...and when given some time to just spent time with God alone just to confess our sins and pray... i really felt God ministering to me so much... i really really felt the need to surrender everything to Him as i can't do it alone with my own strength... i need his Grace for me to pursue this life of holiness! And to overcome pride that can come in so easily from different circumstances!
This is one very insightful message i hope to share with everyone reading my blog! =)

Worshipping God everywhere!

Worshiping God everywhere!
I was casually walking on my way home from school to the second bus stop in potong pasir when
my ipod was playing the song from Hillsong-Dwell in your house... And it reminded me... you know i can even worship in my heart being in God's presence everywhere i go...

Hillsong-Dwell in your house (lyrics abstract)
Show me Your ways
I want to know You
Guide me in truth
My hope is in You That I may dwell in Your house forever
Lifting up Your name
Dwell in Your house forever more

I'll hold on to You,
My strength and my refuge.
Whom shall I fear?
I know You are near
All of my days I live for You, Lord Establish my path There's one thing I ask That I may dwell in Your house forever Lifting up Your name Dwell in Your house forever more

And than later my song ipod change to the song... I Adore... It was really awesome just worshiping God in my heart the entire journey home....

Hillsong- I Adore
The universe is at Your feet
Gives You praise evermore
The stars will light the sky for You
Always, God be praised
And we sing
The Lord is on high
The Lord is on high

I adore You
I adore You
And theres none that compares
To Your majesty, oh Lord

I adore You
I adore You
And I stand
In the wonder of Your love

We will crown You
King forever
Living savior
Jesus redeemer

Lord of heaven
Robed in majesty
Crowned in glory
Creation adores You

When i got back.. i just sat down on the sofa and pick up the book "the FEAR of the LORD" by John Bevere (one of my favourite preachers!).... and wow i was IMMERSED in the book as i read page by page... John really portrayed God in such SOVERIGN AND MAJESTIC way that we will definitely be in awe of His ABSOLUTE POWER in FEAR of the LORD! Its a mustttt read! Just today alone i read thru the first 4 chapters already!

(I like the cover..heee)

During the afternoon... was doing some work...when an MSN convo pop up from my class mate sam, she was telling me that some of her church mates including amy from crusade is starting this prayer grp in school! And wow im so encourage that they are doing this prayer movement on campus and they also to bless ppl on campus! This is a platform which im hoping the TP crusaders may wanna tap upon too!

The video and picture below is what i imagine as a movement and REVIVAL to me! This thought and vision has been in my mind of what i hope to see happening in TP too! And wow..after 3 years in TP... i think the preparation for revival is clearer even more now ... prayer grps are actively being formed and Christians are wanting to make a difference on campus!

(a scene taken from Facing the Giants...prayer groups started forming on campus!)

Below a Must watch videooo! A scene of what seems of a prayer movement on campus!
(extracted from the movie..Facing the Giants...)

(amazingggggggggg video of what i imagine a start of revival to be like!)

By evening time...
Met up with elliot to run and gym! And before the start of the 2.4km run... i was telling God that im going to give my best and run for HIM!... and well..... i push my self prettyy much! BUT still... havent even past the 11min mark yet... had a time of 11min 2 secs this time! My best training time for 2.4km in the last 3mths though... but still neeed to push MUCH more if i want to get below 10mins!

After gym... had a late dinner with elliot at subway at J8... and had a nice edifying conversation talking about different christian doctrines and issues...
Anyways i really hope that all Christians out there will have more such edifying conversations during fellowships as this are where we get to understand our faith even more and it encourages the soul too! =)

Festival Of Praiseee 2008! (FINAL NIGHT!)

Festival Of Praiseee 2008! (WHAT A FINAL NIGHT!)
Sunday
Below are clips of the different expressions of moonieeee... from small grp time on saturday and than sunday breakfast...

(WOAHHH! Fierce moonie abt to ATTACK Jon(benlei) with that guitar)

(Oh my that MOO laughter!!! Shes always the center of attraction in our small grp! MAKING THE MOST NOISE EVERYWHERE!)

FESTIVAL OF PRAISE FINAL NIGHT!!!
Met up with the TP crusaders as we headed for the FINAL NIGHT of FOP at indoor stadium...
To be honest was pretty tired at the starting part... was more of just looking forward to the message...

Rev Mark Conner
Living A life of Eternity!

Psalms 39 ...

"Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For everything in the world—the cravings of sinful man, the lust of his eyes and the boasting of what he has and does—comes not from the Father but from the world." 1 John 2:15-16

Values of the World- Pleasures, Possession and Prestige
All this won't last for eternity

ONLY THE WILL OF GOD LAST FOREVER!

Things that will last forever....
1. KNOWING GOD
(being a friend of God..love God with all strength, heart, mind and soul)

2. LOVING PEOPLE ( 1 Corinthians 13)
Love is more important than bible knowledge, anointing etc...
LOVE last forever! We should treat ppl with full value like how Jesus treat everyone
Minstry is about people!

3.INVEST TIME,TALENT ,RESOURCES IN THE WILL OF GOD! (Ephesians 2:10)
A Key in Life is to SERVE
He shared this illustration...
Imagine the SAINTS vs THE DEVILS in a soccer match... And the coach is the only one on the field playing his heart out! And the rest of the players are just supporting ON THE BENCH! Than when the coach burn out! The assistant coach is substitute in to take over! THATS like what happening in many churches where the pastor is doing everything! And everyone just expect to be served!
Sooner or later that pastor wld burn out!

We NEED EVERYONE TO PARTICIPATE IN SERVING OUR LORD TOGETHER!

You know a tomb stone... with the dates of our birth and death...

We are living in that "DASH"... 1989 - ?
This is our moment to ceased the day!
INVEST IN THINGS THAT REALLY MATTER FOR ETERNITY!!!!

What a powerful message! And looking back since Friday YM catalyst... till today's sermon..somehow.. everything is link! By 2 different speakers and sessions!

FINAL PRAISE AND WORSHIP!!! to end the night!

(Everyoneeee ran to the front when reuben morgan and his hillsong team came on for the final segnment! This is a FIRST time i see such a thing in the last 3 years of FOP which i have gone too... and not only that... PARACHUTE BAND than JOINED The Hillsong team on the same stageee! Which meansss 2 drummersssssss! And they coordinated so well! As they played all the all time favorite classic songs like ONE WAY,TELL THE WORLD,SALVATION IS HERE, TAKE IT ALL, MIGHTY TO SAVE! What a night!)

Also manage to bump into my primary sch classmate tian yao whom i have never seen for years! Not only that found out he was a cousin of one of my TP crusade mate persie! What a small world lor... so had one niceee time catching up with him and with the other serangoon ppl like persie and her sis too on the way home that night! =)

Festival Of Praiseee 2008!

Festival Of Praiseee 2008!

Saturday
Woke up from a very vivid dream! I dream it was my first time taking a sec 1 grp in YM! And i rmb the numbers in the dream.. it was grp T04... room 810a and than i move to room 810b.. no idea what all that meant...BUT.... it sure was very real dream! Cld God be assuring me to take a sec 1 grp in YM one day? hahah! i dunnoo...

Anyway had a nice bible study session with my small grp led by Jon(benley) today at noon time... had a very good discussion on Confession and we did this practical part where we had to pray and ask God to reveal the sins to us... and it made us all realize..WOW he really bore all those sins on the cross for us... and after that we confess and claim upon the promise from 1 John 1:9 that he has forgiven us! It was a great reminder of how God purified us from our sins on the cross and his cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

After that..rush down to indoor stadium to meet glenda and ronda who were queuing halfway... pheww good thing i manage to sneak into the queue in time bcoz later on...no one cld cut in...

Parachute band was pretty good... but didnt know most of their songs, reuben morgan and his hillsong team were my personal favourite actually as they played most of the songs from the new album THIS IS OUR GOD..which has been on replay mode on my ipod recently! Its my favourite hillsong album to date! I like ALL 14 songs there!!!!

Anyways the message by Rev Mark Conner was something very practical and insightful... but the cool thing i felt was... it was somehow a continuation of the message i heard at catalyst yesterday! As yesterday session ended of by how we can make the best of our remaining time on Earth and now...today was a very practical session on how we are responsible for our life!
Our life is something we are within control! And our life is normally shaped by decisions and the way we think. He shared some pretty good insights of how we should first take "responsibility of our mind".. we must not be ruled by our emotions but instead focus on our positive emotions..like good things God has done or to do in our life! And then this is a statement which he said that struck me.. "take responsible for your attitude and emotions and after that this can influence others around you!" So it all starts with us! =)

Theee seemingly busy weekkk!

Theee seemingly busybut quite fruitful week!)

Wow! I just realised i havent been blogging for 5 days!!!! Originally i thought this block of retail design is going to be less busy, which is trueee on the sch work part... SO when i thought now can focus more on ministry stuff like crosstrainers stuff..and soonnerrrrr i realise practically everyday i got either small grp, crosstrainers or crusade stuff to do! But well! I guess i enjoy doing those stuff....

(Simon the I.C of this event!)

(finalizing of stations!)

Friday!
First time everrr went to the TP GYM! Had a nice gym fellowship with asriel and wenhao!

After that headed to church for YA Catalyst service! And im really so glad i came for this young adult service which our small grp has committed to instead of FOP which i orginally planned to go tonite with some ymers!
I manage to take but some pretty good insights on "A Life worth remembering"- preach by Ri Sheng.. and there were so many things which i totally agreeed with him! Like how the end times are really coming even closer! And the gospel being preached to the rest of the world is so much closer than before!!! Even CHINA now has bibles printed which is said in the straits times front page!!! AND even now with Singapore having this UNITED project called love singapore with churches holding it together in UNITY!!! All this is preparation for REVIVAL everywhere acrosss the world! Jesus Christ is cominggggggggggggggg back! Lets make the BEST of the remaining time for our LORD! =)
