Crazy Weekend!

Facebook statuses in the midst of Writing My Missions paper!

2 Nov 2013

3pm
Looking at my church website now on their mission praxis and I'm actually quite amazed at the many platform of outreach that our church actually do! From cross-cultural missions, to local outreaches, to crisis relief, from young to senior and the list goes on and on. With so outreach ministries, sub-minsitries, and the many centres they support which includes a matrix of umbrellas of committees & sub-committees within them! Imagine if we have our entire church of 6000 over members who can be Kingdom Minded and see beyond the 4-walls of our church and actually actively participate or support any of this ministries in some way! There is so much impact our church can actually actively play in God's Kingdom purposes in this nation and in the World!

6pm
Something I've learnt today. "Lack of sleep = headache!" Probably going to be the craziest week so far this semester with this mission take home paper, followed by the massive OT & NT exams to prepare for, all in the span of 5 days!

"Dear Lord, do refresh us with your grace & mercy, give us your wisdom and reveal to us your side curriculum that you want to teach as we go through this moulding process going of a crazy 5 days ahead! In Jesus name, I pray Amen!"

9pm
Moments when I get so absorbed into my paper, realised that my conviction of certain mission praxes are so strong that I end up becoming too personal in an academic paper. And realised half way that I was actually 'ranting' or 'preaching' over 4 paragraphs over just one point. (454 words to be exact, time to put in some grace into it...and 'back-space' a whole chunk of words!)

Finally after much proof-reading & ruminating over this missions paper over 2 long nights, I decided I will just submit it! This is a paper which had so much of my convictions poured into, maybe because it is what God has specifically called me for. He reminded me yet again why I'm here in ministry today as I wrote it. And I will always remember that strong impression he laid on my heart 5 years ago on 7 October 2008, “To reach out to the world, by starting with equipping the people in the church to prepare them for outreach to the World.”

And like what Chris Wright would have said, “Missions is the mode of existence for every member of the whole church to take the gospel to the whole world.”
