HIERARCHY OF CHOICES - Christian Context

This is the Hierachy of Choices model which Marcus discussed at the recent YM Committee meeting.And when looking at it again today was inspired to translate it into a christian context.

HIERARCHY OF CHOICES

IDENTITY


Child of God

“Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God” John 1:12


I am the light of the world.

"You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden." Matthew 5:14


Chosen people of God

“But you are a chosen people, a royal priest hood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.” 1 Peter 2:9


PURPOSE


To glorify God

"So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God." 1 Corinthians 10:31


To shine for others

In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:16


VISION


God’s Heart for the World

If My people, who are called by My name, will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7: 14


The Glory of Christ and the Blessing of the Nations

“For the earth will be filled with the glory of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea.” Habakkuk 2:14


STRATEGY


The Great Commission

“Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 28:18-20


Witnesses throughout the world

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” Acts 1:8


TACTICS


Love one another

So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other. Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples.”John 13:34-35 (NLT)


Prayer Constantly

Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus” 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18


ACTIVITIES


Sharing the Good news

“ How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of the messenger who brings good news, the good news of peace and salvation, the news that the God of Israel reigns!” Isaiah 52:7 (NLT)


Spend yourself for those in need

“ and if you spend yourselves in behalf of the hungry and satisfy the needs of the oppressed, then your light will rise in the darkness, and your night will become like the noonday” Isaiah 58:10
