Naval Diving Unit Vocational Assessment!!!

It was sure one very interesting day at Sebawang Naval Base....

Woke up at 5am! Reach Sebawang Mrt at 7am and met ryan!

(NAVAL DIVERS!)

As we entered the camp we could really experience first hand what this crazy SUPER FIT Naval divers train in the morning as we saw them running and singing songs in great unison! And they seem all so GUNGHO LOR!!! And as we walk...its a pretty nice camp actually! With the MOTO BIG BIG "NOTHING STANDS IN OUR WAY"... and the FROGMAN statue!

Entered the lecturer hall and they split us into 2 grps... We were the group that took the physical test first...

8.30am... PHYSICAL TEST
Pull ups! - 22 pull ups

Standing Broad jump... my weakest station...only did a 235cm jump...

25metre swim test... Passed!

After that INTERVIEW TIME....
And this was where i found out i was the longest in the interview...I shared about my mixed feelings, as i poured out all my concerns and questions as the Warrant Officer tried to "convince me to say yes to NDU, as he was saying that a person who can do 22 pull ups sld be more than physically fit for it and sldnt be concern abt the danger of diving when safety is their highest priority!! ".... and somehow dunno what came upon me... as this inner ben in me...kinda said.. mhmm... its quite a rare opportunity and challenge to take? ...and i kinda said... maybe? but... not like fully 100% ready yet....

LUNCH TIME!....1130am...
And now we experience what this divers eat!....SUPER GOOOD FOOOD!!! ..oh yea bump into my friend Justin kwan inside too! Wah this guy now going to be Officer Naval diver lor!!!

Medical test!!!!
1pm....
Arghhhh...draw blood AGAIN!...this timeee saw many of my peers getting like 2-4 miss jabs! And blood squirting all over!!!... Even mine ...as i covered with the cotton..my whole hand was bloody! Even the corporal taking us was SHOCKED! Diee surely bruise next 2 weeks oready!

Then this BLOW test (for lungs)..,...which i did like nearly 10 times to PASS LOR!!!.... And than a bunch of hearing test which was ok!...

And a lot of waiting time in between....

DIVE PRESSURE CHAMBER!!!
It was sooo scary as they warned us abt the many things that can happen in this test! And how only PURE COTTON can be worn inside...and as we practice all those swallowing of saliva, clearing ears by holding our nose technique.... and drinking a lot of water!... it was quite exciting yet we all were in deep uncertainly as to what it will be like as it went thru a simulation of it... and then it went till 10metres deep! And woahh! We need to constantly blow out to clear pressure and i literally swallow saliva like MAD! Till almost no more saliva left to swallow!!!! And phew.....after abt 12 mins in the chamber we manage to PASS it in the end after the very interesting ascending stage!!!

Dinner!!! 4.30pm!

PSYCHOMETRIC test! 5pm!
We did testt after test again!!!! Like dunno more than 300 plus questions in the end!!!! Which took like till 7plus pm! And only by 8pm then we could leave the camp!!!

Anyways at the end of today... it was quite an interesting experience... seeing the facilities in this camp and making a lot of new friends as we all spent the entire day here together at the camp!
