Lessons learnt....Catalyst.... Mentoring.... BMC....
Friday
Headed down from sch to church to do a filming of my testimony for Fusion. And this is like my first real filming session! Its not as easy as it seems, as sharing infront of a camera instead of a life audience was just as nerve racking. Buti guess it went well in the end...anyway everyone out there COME FOR FUSION 2008!!!! 23 Feb,Saturday at ACS I, SEEYALL THERE!
After that, rush down to meet my small grp for dinner followed by catalyst...
Just sat thru one of the most "chim" sermon by Adriel, but i actually kinda like it, as it was so much more deeper than the usual ones we hear in YM where he have to make it simpler. I wld say im quite impress by all those BIG WORDS that was said which took me a little longer to absorb, but at the end of it... i can say..todays sermon was quite powerful.
It was basically on this 2 main points first...
Theological Congruence- To know what you believe and how this underpins all the various aspects of your life.
Spiritual Formation- The progressively increasing experience of God in our lives
He then went on to share on 3 biblical characters in the bible that showed examples of Spiritual formation in their lives. Abraham, Joshua and Jesus Christ
1. They knew their Destination in the PURPOSES of God.
(God has called us for something great in our life, and we sld find that great calling for us to know our destination.)
Abraham(to be the father of all nations)
Joshua (To lead the people into the promise land)
Jesus( to fulfill the promise on dying for our sins)
2.They had AUDACIOUS FAITH in the promises
3.They SURRENDERED to the pre-eminence of God.
4. They walked in INTIMACY with the person of God.
5. They MINISTERED to the people of God
(When we are use by God to bless others and we are both HUMBLED and INSPIRED at the same time)
Saturday
10am
Met up with gladwin to from YWCA to around Singapore river and back to YWCA again. And through out the run we had our mentoring session. This is quite a cool approach where you work both your mind and body at the same time. COOL RIGHT! And it ease the tiredness in running as well, as when your thinking and talking throughout...u will get distracted from the physical part and in the end you will find your run ending as soon as u start.
Anyway thru out the run, we were talking abt this 3 key points
1. What is Spiritual Leadership?
2. How do I measure up to Spiritual Leadership?
3.What can i do to have Spiritual Leadership?
And we manage to have some really good talk on it... like if im not wrong, we came out with 3 main attributes of a spirtual leader. Firstly, he is a servant leader,a visionary and a person who can speak the truth in LOVE.
Another thing which i learnt and applied was using the S.O.A.P ..which is to read a Scripture, Observe and Interpret, Application and Prayer. So i had a practical session doing on 1 Peter Ch 1. Now everyday I will be doing this practical work from the bible until the next time i meet gladwin again.
After that..met up with my BMC grp..as its our turn to MAKE REFRESHMENTS for everyoneeee!
(I heard people saying that our FOOD was SPECIAL!.. i overheard someone behind me talking, thinking we put SOME SPECIAL sauce in our tuna sandwich. heh. Well i guess its the hands that make it special =P....i borught the melons, bel made some WORLD BEST POTATO SALAD,while Tiffany brought some DELICIOUS NYDC OREO CHEESECAKE!..you know we wanted to keep some for ourselves before we gave everyone...but we decided not to.. heh... In the end we still finished the left overs. whahaha!)
Anyway manage to take back something again from BMC class... it was a good reminder when we talk abt the difference between urgency and importance. And so many of us are caught in this TYRANNY OF URGENCY.. its like we do all the urgent things and may push out the Important things in our lives. And i guess... we sld really manage and prioritize our time wisely. That is something im still learning... but it constantly assure me how IMPORTANT, are things like quiet time is... and this are the IMPORTANT ONES.
